Clothe A Child is a community project
that works with Kohl’s to clothe underprivileged kids in Frisco. This
is an event that you won’t want to miss!
In partnership with several Frisco
churches and Kohl’s,
Clothe-A-Child Frisco has set a goal of clothing 700 children this
year. Each
child is identified by the Frisco Independent School District as
one who would benefit from this program. Saturdays, October
13 and 20, the children and their families will come to Kohl’s
in Frisco where each child will be given a voucher for $100 to
be used towards clothing items. Each family is matched with
a volunteer to assist in shopping. At least 500 volunteers
are needed to make this program a success.
This
year, our goal at PTCC is 100 volunteers and to clothe 85 kids. Check
out the Yes! table for all the details or email Leigh Anne Crow

More about Clothe a child...
Clothe-A-Child (CAC) has partnered with Kohl’s
Department Store to serve the new clothing needs of elementary
school children within Frisco.
School counselors at Frisco ISD elementary schools identify children
through interaction with the families and the free and reduced
lunch program.
The counselor provides each qualified child
an application to be completed by the parents, or guardians,
then returned to the school. This identification process takes about two weeks. The
applications are then returned to CAC where they are reviewed by
a CAC Committee and selections are made. CAC seeks to impact
as many families from as many schools in our community as possible. This
is accomplished by accepting children from all schools while limiting
the maximum amount of children per family to three.
Once the selection process is completed, each
family is contacted by phone to confirm acceptance into the program,
provided the details regarding the date, time, and place for
the event. In addition,
each accepted child is sent home a reminder from school the week
before the event.
Each year, Kohl’s opens their doors early one Saturday morning
to CAC at no cost to the program. Kohl’s provides adequate
staff and support to run the store.
On the shopping day, the families and children
come to Kohl’s. Upon
arrival, they are confirmed against the registration list and matched
with a volunteer to assist them in shopping. The volunteer
spends time helping the family stay within their allotted amount
of money, as well as, getting to know the family. Each volunteer
is encouraged to help the family address their pressing clothing
needs. The volunteer is asked to stay with the family until
they are checked out, at which time the volunteer is free to leave
or help another family shop.
