Pastors' Letter

It is hard to believe that one year ago we were gearing up for our Dream Big Campaign. When we started we had no idea where we would end up, but we were trusting that God would lead us to just the right place-and he did.

In August 2005 we came across the PC Dynamics Building located on Main St. east of Preston. From the very first time we walked into the building we sensed that God had chosen this place just for us. We immediately strategized how we could obtain this building for God's purposes. After some fits and starts we were finally able to put the building under contract in December. The property was appraised at $2.4 million, but we were able to purchase it for $2.15 million.

While we were pursuing a contract on the building, our Dream Big Capital Campaign Team was leading the church through a period of rapid spiritual growth and commitment. By the end of our campaign in the second week in December, our church had pledged 1.6 million dollars to our effort. This overwhelming response made it possible for us to secure a bridge loan for the property and we closed on February 6, 2006. Every step of the way God's providential grace was evident. At that time little did we know that we would need his help even more!

In April it came to our attention that the bank, from which we had bought the building, had failed to disclose to us an unfavorable environmental report which had been commissioned by another potential buyer. When the existence of the report became known to us we had to put our plans on hold while we investigated the implications of this report. After much prayer and several conversations with the bank, they agreed to cover our costs in cleaning the building appropriately. How grateful we are for God's working in this situation and the bank's willingness to step up and do the right thing!

Now we are back on track and ready to move ahead. But our timetable has changed! We are doing much of the remodeling ourselves, and our people have responded wonderfully to the call for volunteer labor. If everything goes to plan we will be in the building around mid-December. Our goal is actually to be open for Christmas Eve services! So, we have transition plans to finalize, ministries to re-engineer to fit our new space, and Serving Teams to staff. It is going to be a wild and adventurous ride! But we have no doubt that that PTCC is up to the challenge. With God's help and with everyone doing their part we will make a smooth move and be positioned to reach thousands of people with the message of God's grace!

Expectantly,

Jim and Paul
