Our Speaker

thRuthie George

Ruthie George was born and raised in Little Rock, then attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She remains to this day a true,die-hard, Razorback fan! Ruthie is also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In their marriage of thirty-four years, Tom and Ruthie have been greatly blessed with four married daughters and ten grandchildren.

But her first love is, and always will be Jesus Christ, who touched her heart and saved her soul when she was a young woman. Upon coming to know Him, her life was completely transformed. God made it very clear to Ruthie that His call on her life was to serve Him in ministry to women, and that He had gifted her in leadership, teaching and encouragement.

While living in Evergreen, Colorado, Ruthie served for several years as a small-group leader in Community Bible Study. After moving to Denver and joining a Community Bible Study class there, she served by leading worship and mentoring several of the small-group leaders. It was also here that Ruthie was encouraged to begin teaching. Those years in Colorado has a profound effect on Ruthie's life and growth in Christ. She will be eternally grateful for the ministry those women had in her spiritual life and for modeling to her such a wonderful example of Biblical womanhood.

In 1988, the George family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Ruthie was instrumental in beginning and teaching the original Community Bible Study class there. Under her leadership, the class grew to a membership of 400 women and 200 children. In 1994, Tom and Ruthie moved back to Arkansas where she served one year as Assistant Teaching Director of Little Rock CBS class before beginning and teaching a new class in North Little Rock.

In 1997, the pastors of Fellowship Bible Church invited Ruthie to come on staff as the Director of Women's Ministries. She served in this position for seven years, leading and teaching her own Bible study class as well as giving leadership, direction, and shepherding to eight other areas of Women's Ministries. It was during this time that Ruthie became aware of the growing need for meaningful and relevant Bible study curriculum for women's ministries in the church. She felt the Lord's leading and direction to begin writing studies to hopefully meet that need.

In the fall of 2004, Ruthie changed staff positions at Fellowship Bible Church. Her new position allowed her to more completely concentrate on writing curriculum for Bible classes, giving leadership and teaching to her own morning and evening Bible classes and to disciple four other small, special-issue women's classes. This year, Ruthie retired from Fellowship Bible Church, but continues to have a desire to write curriculum and support other churches. She is currently assisting other churches in their implementation of Women's Ministries, including the Women's Ministry of Preston Trail Community Church. Ruthie has a passion for the Lord Jesus Christ, an intense love for the Word of God, a burning desire to spread God's gospel, and a heart for ministry to women. She combines these characteristics with a winsome sense of humor in her curriculum and teaching. Her prayer is that God would use her and her studies as a tool for women to know Him more deeply, to grow in the knowledge and love of His Word, and to know fully just how much God loves women!
