MOVE-IN PARTY II
Join us Saturday, January 13 beginning at 9:00 AM for a giant Move-In Party II at the new building (10501 F.M. 3537 – Main Street)! We need your help in assembling all the remaining furnishings and fixtures, decorating the rooms, and getting the last minute touches done before Sunday’s service. In order for this to happen, we need EVERYONE to give us some time that day, even if it’s for 30 minutes. Bring the small household tools. Let’s make the move into Preston Trail’s first building a family affair!

What a Sunday!

I can’t remember being a part of a Sunday morning where there was a bigger buzz and more smiles!  To be a part of the accomplishment of a Big Dream is an experience that doesn’t come around every day.  God used so many people along the way that it seems like an impossible task to recognize and thank them all—but we are going to try!

This Sunday is Recognition Sunday and we are inviting a lot of people back who have been a vital part of the success of Preston Trail.  It will be a big day of celebration and gratitude as we get a chance to take in the wonder evoking way God works through people’s lives to do awesome things!  You don’t want to miss it!

One of the reasons we did a soft opening last week was so that we could learn what we need to tweak in order to be ready for Grand Opening, January 21st.  Two things in particular became apparent.  First, we’ve got a lot more furniture and equipment to assemble.  It’s still like Christmas Eve around here and we need to stay up late to get it all put together!  So, this Saturday we are running the sequel Move-In Day II.  We’ll get together at 9:00 am and hopefully be done by early afternoon.  If you’ve got even an hour to stop by, you can help make a difference!

Second, PARKING!!!  We did our best to anticipate our parking patterns, but one thing we didn’t expect—only about 30 cars left after the first service!  That means we have a lot of people serving and staying for worship, and that’s great, but it doesn’t leave much room for new folks coming at 11:00.  So, we’ve got to park as many people as possible on Red Cedar, the street behind the building which is in front of Christie Elementary.  Below you’ll find a map that shows you how to get there from both Hillcrest to the east and Preston Rd. to the west.  All the staff will be parking over there, so if you’d like to have a chance to get to know them better on walks to your car pre and post service why don’t you join us over there!

Grand Opening will be here in only ten days!  We are expecting a record crowd as we open our new building to our whole community.  I am looking forward to meeting all of the friends that you will be bringing that morning.  Paul and I will be launching a brand new series entitled Man Laws.  The current “Man Law” commercials are a humorous spoof of the unwritten rules that guide male behavior.  There are, however, other unwritten principles that serve as guides for everyone.  The question is, “Do they serve us well?”  That’s the question Paul and I will be asking as we tackle these Man Laws:

January 21: “Whoever Dies with the Most Toys Wins”
January 28: “If It Feels Good, Do It”
February 4: “The Grass Is Always Greener”
February 11: “All Good People Go to Heaven”

God has given us an incredible opportunity to reach the North Texas area for Christ.  Let’s seize the day!

Jim

PARKING

lightSometimes people stay away from church because they think they’re not good enough. Maybe someone once told them that their weaknesses or sins made them unworthy to come into God’s presence. They believed it, and then said “Forget it” to church.

When you examine the life of Jesus, one thing is perfectly clear: he sent the opposite message. He told everyone, “Come as you are ... rich or poor, weak or powerful, beautiful or homely, nasty or nice. Come to God as you are.” And they did -- corrupt politicians, dirty prostitutes, swearing fishermen came to Jesus and found God’s acceptance.

But Jesus loved people too much to leave them “as is.” He taught them to follow him, and the result was a changed life. They exchanged addictions for freedom, greed for generosity, lust for love, cowardice for courage. His “Come as you are” message was balanced with “Don’t stay that way.”

For the first two Sundays of January, our senior pastors will help us understand that “No Perfect People Allowed” is the underlying assumption for PTCC. If you think you’re perfect, or are looking for a perfect church, you won’t feel comfortable here. But if you know you aren’t perfect, then “Come as you are ...” Jesus accepts all of us on those terms. But “don’t stay that way” -- life is too short to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Listen up on January 7 and 14 as Jim Johnson and Paul Basden teach us how to be this kind of church and this kind of people.
