HELP
NEEDED AT BUILDING
We’re counting down the weeks before we’re in our new
building. Every volunteer makes a difference in not only our timeline
but in the lives of people we hope to
reach!
During the week of November 27 we will be
installing acoustic panels, sanding floors, and waxing the floors
in the sanctuary to prepare for a/v equipment. If you have any
questions or would like to join us, feel free to
just show up at the building during printed times or call John
Taylor at 214-
542-3767 or JD Tomlin at 817-913-4129 and let them know you’re
coming.
Thanks for serving!

"Thanks
- Giving"
Thanksgiving is a holiday that holds significant
meaning for many people. To some, Thanksgiving represents a time to cherish
family and friends. To others, it is the chance to slow down and
take a break from the ongoing hustle and bustle of work and school.
And there are still those who enjoy the mere opportunity to eat
until their hearts delight (guilt free of course), simply because
it is Thanksgiving. For you football lovers, it the greatest
day of the year!
If I could invite you to dive deeper into the heart of Thanksgiving,
our search would lead us no further than the word itself. “Thanks-Giving.” It
is a day where we say “thanks” to God for “giving” to
us the blessings of life. If we allow our mind to venture during
this holiday season, we not only reflect on our fortune, but we
also think about those who are less fortunate.
In this spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to share with you
my recent experience with the students of PTCC. Last week,
seven Student Life Groups, a total of 65 students, were given the
challenge to provide (out of their own money) a Thanksgiving meal
for eight less fortunate families. In addition, my challenge was
to take the 6th grade boys grocery shopping. I must admit,
I have never seen so many boys that excited about shopping. When
it came time to checkout, each boy emptied his pockets and a total
of $170 was gathered. Later I had a chance to ask one of
the mothers where her son came up with the money he spent. She
informed me that in his free time over the week he worked around
the house to earn money only to give it away.
After the great shopping adventure, we then
delivered the food to a family who lives in a small rundown duplex.
The father of four children works at Home Depot and the mother
lost her job three months ago. As the whole family came out to
greet us, they did everything they could to hold back the tears
that ran down the side of their face. This family was so grateful.
The mother hugged each student saying nothing but, “Thank
you, thank you, thank you.”
As we piled back in the car to go home, I
will never forget what one 11 year old boy said to me, “You know Ryan, I have always
heard that it was better to give than to receive but never believed
it. After tonight, I know that it really is better to give
than receive. And you know what else? I want to begin being a guy
that gives.”
May your Thanksgiving be filled with gratitude to God for how
he has blessed you and may your heart be compelled to give out
of what He has given to you.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family,
Ryan Hairston
