December Is Here!

Yesterday I went to my Day-Timer box to get out the new monthly calendar so I could be ready for the next 31 days. I looked and looked, but couldn’t find the November calendar anywhere … D’oh! November was over – December is here!

Assuming you have the correct calendar open, let me tell you the big events happening in December at Preston Trail. Here goes …

December 4 is Vision Sunday. This service will be designed for adults and kids (kindergarten and up). It will include a Bible story by the KidStreet Gang, an update on the Dream Big pledge total, a rousing song by the praise choir, and a video of Jim and me that is … let’s just say my face is still red. There will be no KidStreet or Curbside, so children can be with their parents in worship. Two services: 9:30 and 11:00 AM.

December 11 is Commitment Sunday. This is the Big Day in our Dream Big capital campaign – the day that all of our people will bring their completed commitment cards and come to the front of the theatre to present them as an offering to the Lord. So that children can be with their parents and participate in this powerful time of dedication, there will be no KidStreet or Curbside. Two services: 9:30 and 11:00 AM.

December 18 is Christmas on KidStreet. Get ready as the KidStreet Gang helps us learn about generosity. Their crazy antics will remind all of us why Christmas is the season of giving. Everyone is invited to Theatre 17 at 10 and 11 AM. Christmas on the Street will replace worship services this day.

December 24 is our Christmas Eve Service. For the first time, PTCC will have a Christmas Eve service. It will be family-friendly, complete with singing carols, telling the story of Jesus’ birth, and anticipating the joy of Christmas Day. We will have two services in Theatre 16 at 3 and 5 PM. Plan to bring your relatives and friends with you.

Here is a simple summary that will help you keep it straight:

December 4 Vision Sunday Everyone Theatre 16 9:30 and 11:00 AM
December 11 Commitment Sunday Everyone Theatre 16 9:30 and 11:00 AM
December 18 Christmas on KidStreet Everyone Theatre 17 10:00 and 11:00 AM
December 24 Christmas Eve Services Everyone Theatre 16 3:00 and 5:00 PM

One last thing to say: we will not have services on Christmas Day. We hope you will enjoy being with your family and friends that day.

December really is here! I hope you will mark your calendar today so you can join your church family for these enriching services designed to remind us all that Christianity … and Christmas … are all about giving.

See you Sunday,

Paul Basden
Senior Pastor
