HELP NEEDED AT BUILDING
We’re counting down the weeks before we’re in our new building. Every volunteer makes a difference in not only our timeline but in the lives of people we hope to reach! If you have any questions or would like to join us, feel free to just show up at the building during printed times or call John Taylor at 214- 542-3767 or JD Tomlin at 817-913-4129 and let them know you’re coming.
Thanks for serving!

WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS BRUNCH & MARKET
Does all the busyness of the upcoming holiday season leave you somewhat frazzled and frustrated at times? Do you miss out on the true meaning of Christmas? Well, this year’s theme, How Our Culture Stole Christmas, will help bring back your focus! In addition to a motivating talk, our brunch will feature Christmas music, a warm breakfast (including green eggs and ham), a special drama, door prizes and shopping immediately following. What a great way to spend the weekend before Christmas - sharing times with friends and getting back into the spirit! Tickets will be $15.00 each and will go on sale in November before and after our Sunday services. This year’s market will also feature 25 vendors. If you have a business you would like to market, consider being a market vendor and pick up a form after service today!

CANDLES NEEDED
We need your help as we prepare for our Christ- mas Eve Service in our new home. We are looking for white or cream colored candles (any size or shape) for a very special element of the worship experience. Please bring them on December 10th and 17th to the information table in the lobby.

WOMEN’S SPRING BIBLESTUDY - DANIEL In January 2007, we will start our large group/small group expanded bible study program. This year’s spring study will be Beth’s Moore’s Daniel. Three Big Events

Three big events are on the horizon. Here’s what you need to know!

“Shower the people …”

When a couple gets engaged or a baby is born, family and friends throw a shower. Everyone brings a gift, and the couple or baby benefit. This Sunday afternoon we are going to throw a shower of sorts for our new building. We are calling it an Open House, and it is going to be incredible. Let me tell you about it. In every room of the building will be a 3-D color picture of exactly what the room will look like – that is, if we have all of the furnishings and fixtures we need! That’s where you and I come in. We are the family and friends of Preston Trail Community Church; we are the ones who have the opportunity to outfit these rooms so they will look like they need to. Many of you have already given generously to our building program, and God has used your gifts to get us almost to the finish line of moving into our new building on a shoestring budget. But to cross the line, we’re going to have to take one last step: furnishing the rooms with the necessary items to complete the building. As you tour the building this Sunday afternoon, you will see what is needed in each room to finish it out. Then at the end you will have an opportunity to purchase one or more of the items. So join us Sunday afternoon from 4-6 PM at the new building for a great time of making our dreams come true!

“Ladies first …”

The Women’s Christmas Brunch and Market is almost here! You can still sign up this Sunday … and I highly encourage you to do so! This is the highlight of our women’s ministry, and this year promises to be the best yet. Under the banner “How Our Culture Stole Christmas,” this year’s event comes complete with Christmas music, breakfast, drama, door prizes, shopping afterwards, and above all, an inspirational talk by guest speaker Ruthie George about how to reclaim Christmas for yourself and your family this year. Sign up after the service this Sunday – tickets are just $15.00. And if you know a friend who would enjoy this event, buy a ticket for her as well. For more information go to http://www.prestontrail.org/family/women-christmas.htm.

“Survey says …”

Over the last two weeks we have given out a survey at worship asking you to tell us which service you would likely attend at the new building – 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM. We had great participation, but the results raised one more question that we need your input on: are those the two best times to hold services? To make sure we’re charting the best course possible, we are going to give out another survey this Sunday. It will ask you to tell us what service you would likely attend if the times were 9:30 and 11:00 instead of 9:00 and 10:30. Thanks for participating! This information will help us make key decisions.
Excited about all that God is doing in our midst,

Paul Basden, senior pastor

lightWhen Jesus came to earth, he amazed everyone -- he was pure goodness, grace and truth in action. One word that was used to describe him again and again is LIGHT. When an old saint named Simeon saw the infant Jesus he exclaimed, “I have seen the Savior, he is a light to reveal God to the nations.” Looking back at Jesus after a long life, John identified him as “the light of men that shines in the darkness.” Jesus described his own journey from heaven to earth in this simple phrase: “Light has come into the world.”

The thing about light is that you must respond to it. You can open your eyes or shut them, you can turn your head away, but you have to respond. When Jesus was born, the light he brought into the world evoked all sorts of reactions. In our upcoming Christmas message series called LIGHT we are going to explore how the light affected those who first encountered it, and how it can affect us today.

Here’s the lineup for topics and dates:

November 26 “Inconvenienced by the Light” (Joseph)
December 3 “Chosen by the Light” (Mary)
December 10 “Surprised by the Light” (Shepherds)
December 17 “Threatened by the Light” (Herod)
December 24 “ Drawn by the Light” (Wisemen)

Join us for these messages that will invite you to come into the LIGHT.
