D-Day

D-Day is this Sunday, December 11. That’s D as in Dedication, Devotion, and Determination!

This is the day when we show our commitment to the vision underlying Dream Big – a bold vision of future facilities that will enable us to minister to people from a permanent location for years to come.

As you prepare for D-Day (also called Commitment Sunday), keep these things in mind:

1. Complete the Commitment Card you will receive in the mail this week, prior to Sunday morning. Your commitment involves a one-time year-end gift, as well as a three-year pledge.
2. Bring the completed Commitment Card with you. (If you forget, we will have extras available. If you are going to be out of town, you can mail it in.)
3. Attend the worship service at either 9:30 or 11:00 AM. Bring your older children (K and older) with you. Take your younger children (pre-K and younger) to the Backyard on the mezzanine level. (KidStreet and Curbside are cancelled for the day.)
4. Expect a special blessing from God as you sing songs of praise, as you listen to Markus and the choir remind us how great our God really is, and as Rod reminds us in song that this big dream is “Bigger Than Yourself.”
5. When the time comes to bring your commitment to the front as a gift to God, prayerfully offer it up to the One who can multiply it – like He multiplied the five loaves and two fish to fed 5,000.
6. PRAY for God to do a miracle in the hearts of all of us, and that our commitments will be large enough to enable us to purchase the PC Dynamics building.

The original D-Day was June 6, 1944. It commemorated the victory of Allied forces over Germany on the beaches of France. It also signaled the eventual defeat of Hitler and the Axis forces. Without the sacrifice of those who fought for us, we would not be free today.

Our church’s D-Day is December 11, 2005. It will commemorate the dedication, devotion, and determination of each of us. It will be a tangible expression of our trust in God as we offer back to Him what is already His – our money – in order to defeat the enemies of evil and sin in our world and to win a victory for His Kingdom. It will take a sacrifice, but we make it gladly. Our D-Day will change history and eternity. I can’t wait.

See you Sunday for a day we will never forget …

Paul Basden
Senior Pastor
