Well, this year’s theme, How Our Culture Stole Christmas, will help bring back your focus! In addition to a motivating talk, our brunch will feature Christmas music, a warm breakfast (including green eggs and ham), a special drama, door prizes and shopping immediately following. If you have a business you would like to market, consider being a market vendor and pick up a form after service today!

CANDLES NEEDED
We need your help as we prepare for our Christ- mas Eve Service in our new home. We are looking for white or cream colored candles (any size or shape) for a very special element of the worship experience. Please bring them on December 10th and 17th to the information table in the lobby.

MOVE-IN PARTY
Join us Saturday, January 6th beginning at 9:00 AM for a giant Move-In Party at the new building (10501 F.M. 3537 – Main Street)! We need your help in assembling all the remaining furnishings and fixtures, decorating the rooms, and getting the last minute touches done before Sunday’s service. In order for this to happen, we need EVERYONE to give us some time that day, even if it’s for 30 minutes. Bring the small household tools. Let’s make the move into Preston Trail’s first building a family affair!

"The Second G"

What an incredible experience we had last Sunday evening at the Open House for our new building. Over two hundred people took a tour of the building, and many made donations to help purchase some of the items we need to finish out the facility. By the time the dust settled (figuratively speaking), $30,000 worth of items were given by the generous folks of our church. What a night … Go, PTCC! Go, God!

All of the furniture and fixtures that were donated will help outfit the building so we can do what God has called us to do as a church: “help people find and follow Jesus Christ.” Look at the last half of that mission statement for a moment …

Following Jesus Christ means being like him and doing what he did. At PTCC we like to describe this in terms of the 5 Gs. That is, if you want to be a “fully devoted follower” of Jesus, then you will prioritize five practices in your life: Grace, Growth, Groups, Gifts, and Good stewardship. I want to highlight the second G right now.

GROWTH is a good word. We want children to grow, trees to grow, savings accounts to grow, quality family time to grow. God wants you to grow in your consistency of following his Word and teachings. At PTCC, here is how we do that.

  1. Women’s Ministries – Starting in January our women will study the Book of Daniel together. There is no better way for a woman to grow in Christ than to study God’s Word and apply its principles to her life. This is exactly what our women will do when they gather on Tuesdays at the new building. There will be both a morning and a night group to accommodate women’s schedules. Childcare will be available for a modest cost. For more information, go to http://www.prestontrail.org/family/women-daniel.htm.

  2. Men’s Ministries – The men of PTCC will begin studying the Bible together in mid-February. A men’s kickoff event is set for Sunday evening February 11, and the actual Bible Study will begin on Wednesday night February 21. If we have enough men who need to meet early in the day, we will have a second group that will meet on Friday mornings starting February 23. Guys, we are going to spend 3 months learning from one of the greatest saints and sinners in the Bible, King David. He was a man’s man, and he succeeded – and failed – in many ways. Get ready for building strong friendships with other guys, and growing closer to God.

  3. Life Groups – Couples who like to meet together to strengthen their spiritual growth love Life Groups. Groups of 4-10 couples gather two or three times a month to share friendship and Bible study. They seek to build genuine community where they can be honest about their lives with one another.

To be the Christ-follower God created you to be, you need to grow in faith and knowledge and love. You need to be in a women’s Bible study, men’s Bible study, or Life Group. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can stop by the information center on Sunday or contact us via email at info@prestontrail.org or give us a call at 972-668-1244.

May God give all of us a deep desire to grow into spiritual maturity.

Paul Basden, senior pastor

lightWhen Jesus came to earth, he amazed everyone -- he was pure goodness, grace and truth in action. One word that was used to describe him again and again is LIGHT. When an old saint named Simeon saw the infant Jesus he exclaimed, “I have seen the Savior, he is a light to reveal God to the nations.” Looking back at Jesus after a long life, John identified him as “the light of men that shines in the darkness.” Jesus described his own journey from heaven to earth in this simple phrase: “Light has come into the world.”

The thing about light is that you must respond to it. You can open your eyes or shut them, you can turn your head away, but you have to respond. When Jesus was born, the light he brought into the world evoked all sorts of reactions. In our upcoming Christmas message series called LIGHT we are going to explore how the light affected those who first encountered it, and how it can affect us today.

Here’s the lineup for topics and dates:

November 26 “Inconvenienced by the Light” (Joseph)
December 3 “Chosen by the Light” (Mary)
December 10 “Surprised by the Light” (Shepherds)
December 17 “Threatened by the Light” (Herod)
December 24 “ Drawn by the Light” (Wisemen)

Join us for these messages that will invite you to come into the LIGHT.
