HELP NEEDED AT BUILDING
We’re counting down the weeks before we’re in our new building. Every volunteer makes a difference in not only our timeline but in the lives of people we hope to reach! If you have any questions or would like to join us, feel free to just show up at the building during printed times or call John Taylor at 214- 542-3767 or JD Tomlin at 817-913-4129 and let them know you’re coming.
Thanks for serving!

MOVE-IN PARTY
Join us Saturday, January 6th beginning at 9:00 AM for a giant Move-In Party at the new building (10501 F.M. 3537 – Main Street)! We need your help in assembling all the remaining furnishings and fixtures, decorating the rooms, and getting the last minute touches done before Sunday’s service. In order for this to happen, we need EVERYONE to give us some time that day, even if it’s for 30 minutes. Bring the small household tools. Let’s make the move into Preston Trail’s first building a family affair!

WOMEN’S SPRING BIBLESTUDY - DANIEL In January 2007, we will start our large group/small group expanded bible study program. This year’s spring study will be Beth’s Moore’s Daniel. This study will kick off on January 9th, 2007 offering a Tuesday morn- ing session (9:30 - 11:30 AM) and a Tuesday evening session (6:30 - 8:30 PM). The work books will be $20, and onsite childcare will be $75 per child for the whole spring semester. For more information, visit the women’s information table today! Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Down to the wire!

When I was growing up, my hometown newspaper, the Midland Reporter-Telegram, kept a countdown on the front page of how many shopping days were left till Christmas.  I guess they were trying to reach out to the “calendar-impaired” segment of our fair city.  In spite of their friendly reminder, there were many of us who went down to the wire in getting our shopping done.  Believe it or not, there are people who thrive on the tension that comes when the outcome of an event or project is not determined until the very end.

If that describes the nature of your personality, then these are heady days for you at Preston Trail!  We are “down to the wire” on getting our Certificate of Occupancy for the new building in time for Christmas Eve.  The Fire Marshall gave us a list of a few things to shore up yesterday and he will be back Friday morning for a final inspection.  The Building Inspector is coming today and he will likely leave us a list of more things we’ve got to get done before his final approval on Friday.  Talk about living on the edge . . .

In light of this let me remind you of a couple of things about Christmas Eve at Preston Trail.
Our services are scheduled for 4:00 and 6:00 pm.  We will have childcare for children birth through 3 years of age.  Each service will last about 50 minutes.  The music, message, and candle-lighting will inspire you with the true meaning of Christmas.  We look forward to seeing you along with any members of your extended family.

In the event of not getting our CO, we will simply move our services back to the AMC Theatre.  The same service times and childcare options will remain in effect.  Before you leave for the service, be sure to check our website www.prestontrail.org or call 972-668-1244 to find out the location of the service!

God has been so gracious, and many of you have been extremely generous in this adventure of getting into our very first home.  We can hardly count how many people have been used by God to bring us to this exciting point in our church’s life.  Just as we are down to the wire on the CO, we are also down to the wire financially.  You would be so proud of our building team.  They have worked diligently to remodel our building on a shoestring budget and still make it 100% functional when we open our doors to the community January 21st for our Grand Opening.  Their goal all along has been to accomplish this challenging goal within the limits of our Dream Big pledges.

Here is where we stand right now.  If we fulfill our commitments we will be right on target and will be able to close out construction on the building.  So, your end of year giving is more crucial than ever.  Let the offering time at the Christmas Eve service be a time when you give your best gifts to God and his work through Preston Trail.  If you are not able to be at the service, you can mail them to the church at P.O. Box 490, Frisco, TX 75034.

We recognize that some of you made Dream Big commitments last year and for various reasons have had job changes or financial shortfalls.  Believe me, God understands, and so do we.  Give what you can, and catch up as God provides for you in the future.  That’s why it’s important for those of you who have come since our Dream Big campaign to be willing to join us in the privilege of giving to this great cause and help make up the difference.  As we all open our hearts to God, he will work through us to get the job done!

What an opportunity God has given us to walk by faith this year!  Thanks for being on the road with us!

Merry Christmas!

Jim

lightWhen Jesus came to earth, he amazed everyone -- he was pure goodness, grace and truth in action. One word that was used to describe him again and again is LIGHT. When an old saint named Simeon saw the infant Jesus he exclaimed, “I have seen the Savior, he is a light to reveal God to the nations.” Looking back at Jesus after a long life, John identified him as “the light of men that shines in the darkness.” Jesus described his own journey from heaven to earth in this simple phrase: “Light has come into the world.”

The thing about light is that you must respond to it. You can open your eyes or shut them, you can turn your head away, but you have to respond. When Jesus was born, the light he brought into the world evoked all sorts of reactions. In our upcoming Christmas message series called LIGHT we are going to explore how the light affected those who first encountered it, and how it can affect us today.

Here’s the lineup for topics and dates:

November 26 “Inconvenienced by the Light” (Joseph)
December 3 “Chosen by the Light” (Mary)
December 10 “Surprised by the Light” (Shepherds)
December 17 “Threatened by the Light” (Herod)
December 24 “ Drawn by the Light” (Wisemen)

Join us for these messages that will invite you to come into the LIGHT.
