Communication

Communication is the life blood of any institution.  Who can count the numbers of marriages that have ended up in divorce court because the husband and wife simply didn’t communicate well?  How many military missions have gone awry because communication was lost?  How many millions of dollars are lost in corporate American because the marketing, production, and distribution departments don’t adequately communicate?

The same is true in churches as well.  That’s why we work doubly hard at keeping you in the loop at PTCC.  One of the ways we do that on a regular basis is Trail Notes.  It is Paul’s and my way of keeping you informed about what God and PTCC are up to together.  Hopefully you are looking forward to and reading these weekly messages to stay up to date on all the stuff going on at PTCC.

Here’s another source of communication I want to highlight for you.  Our website, www.prestontrail.org has been going through a redesign under the guidance of our Marketing Team.  And, by the way, they are doing an awesome job.  While there is a bit more work to do, it is now a highly creative and functioning website.  If you haven’t gone there recently please log on again soon.  You will see that it is going to be an effective, ongoing communication tool that will provide you up to date info about PTCC.

For example, right now you can go to the website and click on Preston Trail Family at the top.  That will take you to a section of the website designed for folks who are a regular part of PTCC.  You’ll see there a daily update about Ryan Hairston’s condition.  You can also click on a weekly update concerning Dream Big and our building progress.  We want you to have the information you need to be an informed partner with us in our mission to reach people for Christ.

Speaking of communication—here are some important developments that you will want to know:

  • Ryan’s recuperation:  As of Wednesday afternoon he was still in CCU but making progress.  Many of our PTCC folks have signed up to bring food to the hospital for Laura and her family.  The outpouring of support and care from our church is a wonderful expression of the love of Christ within our church.
  • The generosity and commitment of our church is overwhelming!  As of the Christmas Eve service we have received $225,000 toward Dream Big.  This is crucial for moving ahead with the purchase of the building because we will need $330,000 cash on hand by February 1 in order to close on the building.
  • The clock is now counting down on our thirty day feasibility period.  The Land Acquisition Team and Building Oversight Team are working diligently to make sure the purchase of the PC Dynamics building is in the best interest of the church.  Please pray for them especially regarding a meeting with the city of Frisco on Friday, January 6th.
  • Our next series of messages is entitled Re:Solutions.  Paul and I will be teaching the biblical principles designed to help us get on the solution side of some of life’s most persistent problems.  How do I connect with God?  How can I live a balanced life?  How can I repair my marriage? These and other real-life questions will be addressed from a frank and honest perspective.  You’ll want to invite your friends to experience the difference God’s truth can make when facing life’s toughest challenges.

I can’t remember ever being quite this excited about our church’s future.  With the Lord’s help and our commitment to His purposes this could be the best year yet at PTCC!

Gratefully!

Jim
