The Day of all Days

Some days change history . . . some days change forever.  For the last three weeks Paul and I, in our message series entitled 24, have been examining key “days” in the Bible which changed the course not just of history, but eternity.  In the first installment of the series, Paul outlined the goodness and beauty in God’s work of creation.  Our hearts were inspired not only by the message but by Jody Wissing’s “Creation Mural” which she crafted during the service.

On the following Sunday, I spoke of that fateful day when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and introduced sin into the mix of God’s good creation.  Much to God’s disappointment, their decision marred his work and initiated a process of disintegration that has led to unspeakable hurt, brokenness, and alienation for generations.

Mercifully, God did not give up on his creation and set out on a divine plan to win back his people and reclaim his creation.  Jesus’ death on the cross is God’s epic demonstration of his love for his children and his desire to undo the hurt, brokenness, and alienation brought on by human sin.  Last Sunday was a powerful reminder of God’s plan to restore us.  Our Creative Arts Team used words of Scripture and clips from the Passion of Christ to communicate in vivid detail God’s plan to reverse the curse forever on the day Jesus died.

And now Easter is here.  The day of all days.  Jesus’ resurrection is God’s divine YES! All is forgiven!  Everything can be made new!  Sin’s monopoly of power over our lives is split apart!  Death no longer has the last word!  Everything has changed!

I hope that you and your family and friends will join us this Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00 to celebrate this beautiful Day.  The day that changed forever!

He is Risen!

Jim

Few TV shows are more riveting than 24. Based on a fictional 24-hour day in the life of counter-terrorist Jack Bauer, this hit show is now in its fifth season. At Preston Trail, we believe every day is important ... but we also believe there are a few days that have changed history forever. This Sunday we walk through the day of all days, “The Day Everything Changed.”
