Are You Connected?

Nobody is meant to do life alone. God designed each of us with a built-in need and desire to be connected to people.

At PTCC we affirm this 100%! We want you to be connected to God and to others … and you must want the same thing, because just last Sunday ten more people informed our church staff that they wanted to be connected to our church. Many others have done the same since the first of the year.

How can you get connected at Preston Trail? Here are several ways … you decide which ones are best for you.

  1. Discover Preston Trail is a one-week introductory class to our church – what we believe, how we operate, why we do what we do. The next class is this Sunday April 23 at 11 AM in Theatre 2. The class, led by the senior pastors, is perfect for those who have attended enough to like what they see, but are curious to know what's below the surface. If you want to attend, sign up here.
  2. Partnership is what we call membership. To become a partner at PTCC, you participate in a five-week class that takes you through a Bible Study focused on the “5 G's” of Christian maturity: grace, growth, gifts, groups, and good stewardship. The next class is April 30-May 28 (five Sundays), and meets at 11 AM in Theatre 2. Perfect for anyone who believes in the mission and vision of PTCC and wants to be fully vested in the life of the church. If you want to attend, sign up here.
  3. Baptism is an experience of publicly identifying with Jesus Christ because you have accepted his love and grace and desire to live for him. Our next baptism celebration is Sunday May 21 at 5 PM. Perfect for anyone who has recently said YES to Jesus as Leader and Forgiver, as well as for those who said YES in years past but have never been baptized as a believer in Christ. If you want to be baptized, sign up here.
  4. Life Groups are small groups of 8-20 people who meet weekly or biweekly to grow in their faith in God, as well as to develop strong Christian friendships. If you want to be in a Life Group, sign up here.

All of these are ways of becoming involved at PTCC. I challenge you to take the next step in getting connected!

One last thing – as you know, sometimes people whom we get connected to end up “moving on” and we feel a deep sense of loss. That is occurring at the end of May as Lisa Lloyd, our children's programming director, leaves us to work in the area of women's ministry in another church. To read Lisa's letter to PTCC, click here.

All of us who have been blessed by Lisa's ministry in KidStreet will miss her. All of us on staff who have been blessed by her maturity and wisdom will doubly miss her. But we trust God that this is the right next step for her and Markus, so we wish them God's best as they close this chapter in their lives and begin a new one. (PS – Our children's ministry will continue with the same commitment to excellence and creativity that has marked it from the beginning.)

Be sure to join us in worship this Sunday for our new message series called “MiTunes.” Jim will be using Carrie Underwood's “Jesus Take the Wheel” to help us see how to give control of our lives to the One who loves us most.

Weekend Service ? The advent of the iPod makes it possible to take control of the music we listen to. We forget, though, that sometimes our music takes control of us. Listening to our playlists over and over can't help but shape our thoughts and actions. The question we should ask then, is our music telling us the truth? This week we begin a new series entitled Mi-Tunes. Over the next six weeks Jim and Paul will examine some of today's most popular songs and help us hear what our music is really saying.
