“Street Smarts”

Few things we do at PTCC are more important than gathering together on Sundays to hear God's Word.  Why? Because God's Word is dynamite – literally!  It has the power to blow up and eternally alter the landscape of your life.  Here's why:

"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."  (Isaiah 40:8)

"My word that goes out from my mouth ... will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."  (Isaiah 55:11)

"Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ."  (Romans 10:17)

"For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."  (Hebrews 4:12)

Bottom line: God's Word has the power to change your world-view, mend your broken heart, and give you mental peace.

That's why Jim and I are so excited about our new series of messages that begins September 17.  We are calling it "Street Smarts: Real Stuff You Can Use."  It will be a five-week series highlighting some of the most important teachings in Proverbs.  If you haven't read it lately, the Old Testament book of Proverbs is filled with practical pointers to help you live life better.  It addresses almost every important issue you care about – anger, marriage, sex, honesty, children, friendship, crime, alcohol, etc.

From this broad spectrum of subjects, we have chosen five to address in September and October.  Here is the line-up:

September 17          "Wisdom"
September 24          "Integrity"
October 1                  "Work"
October 8                  "Money"
October 15                "Trust"

What you will love most about Proverbs is how practical it all is.  This is "real stuff you can use," information you can apply immediately.  In the grand scheme of things, God doesn't care whether or not you are "book smart."  He wants you to be "Street Smart" – living wisely on the streets of life.

Join us for this new series beginning September 17.  And don't forget to invite a friend to join you!

Hope to see you Sunday,

Paul Basden, Senior Pastor

The ole AMC has been a cozy home for Preston Trail for four years, but in just three short months we will move into our brand new home. Taking occupancy will require more than just completing the physical remodeling. It will take significant spiritual preparation as well. In Trading Up! Jim and Paul will challenge us to think about the incredible opportunities and responsibilities that come with this exciting transition!
