Thank
You!
One thing we’ve learned through the years is that it is
difficult to say “thank you” too often. In fact,
most of the time we err at the other extreme. We don’t
say those magic words (that’s what our moms called both “please” and “thank
you”) enough. Hmmm, that’s an intriguing phrase--“magic
words.” Magic makes unusual things happen. “Please” and “thank
you” are magic words because when you say them wonderful
things happen!
At Preston Trail we want to make sure we say “thank you” more
than enough. So many of you are volunteering on Serving Teams,
leading Life Groups, and ministering to our children and students. You
are living out the value of investing in the lives of neighbors
and friends and inviting them to experience life with Christ at
PTCC. For these investments of time and spiritual energy
we are grateful. You are expanding the size of heaven. Surely
God is pleased!
There is one area, however, in which you have
excelled beyond all expectations. In the past 8 ½ months we have passed
a significant milestone in generosity. When you add together
the gifts to our Operating Budget ($497,868 since
Jan. 1) and our building fund, Dream Big ($505,131
since Dec. 1, ‘05) the total comes to $1,014,999. For
a start up church that began four years ago to pass the one million
dollar benchmark in annual giving is an incredible testimony to
the commitment of our people and the grace of God.
Let me break it down a bit more for you so
you can fully appreciate what you are a part of. Gifts
to our Operating Budget make
it possible for us to simply exist. These funds pay the rent,
provide the resources necessary to make all of our ministries function,
and even impact faraway places like Aceh, Indonesia where we are
a part of helping that country rebuild after the devastating tsunami.
With these gifts we also provide for our gifted
and devoted staff. We
have a large staff for a church our size (btw, that’s a huge
blessing), and they are the essential leaders who guide our innovative
and effective ministries. You probably don’t know this,
but almost half of them are part-time and others work for pennies
on the dollar in comparison to what they could get in the open
market. The incredible generosity of PTCC has been reflected
by them from the beginning in their willingness to come and devote
themselves to our mission, often times at great personal cost.
So, for your gracious and consistent support
of the ongoing ministries of PTCC let us say, “THANK YOU!”
Many of you are new to PTCC and missed the spiritual blessing
of going through our Dream Big Campaign. I
know that may sound oxymoronic (can a capital fund raising campaign
really be a blessing?) but God worked in the hearts of so many
of our family members to lead them to make sacrificial commitments
to give above and beyond their regular tithes and offerings for
the next three years. At that time we pledged to give $1.6
million dollars toward our efforts to secure a new home base for
our ministry. It’s hard to believe, but it is not yet
October and we have practically reached the one third mark in actual
gifts.
Moving into our first building is going to
usher in an unprecedented period of growth for our church. For the first time in our
church’s history, we will have the opportunity to reach thousands
of people for Christ! So, for your generous and sacrificial
support we say, “THANK YOU!”
But wait, there is more! Just last month
you went even further in your commitment to serve others through
sharing your resources. Clothe-a-Child is
a significant community effort to clothe under-privileged children
in the Frisco area. Our goal in August was to provide new
clothes for 80 children ($100/per child). Even with your
ongoing commitments to those things mentioned above, you gave $8,000
to Clothe-a-Child and we met our goal! You are amazing! So,
once again, for demonstrating the immeasurable love of God to others, “THANK
YOU!”
Astounded,
The leadership of Preston Trail Community Church
